I have really enjoyed doing more outdoor group exercise with lockdown easing and I have had a great week of exercise, but clients this week have highlighted to me how important it is to balance energy in versus energy out. We should only be burning more than we’re consuming if our goal is to lose weight, otherwise our body will be in deficit and we will struggle with low energy availability, which can result in increased risk of stress fractures. When exercising, please remember that what we eat to fuel our exercise is as important as the exercise we do.
